Juventus Begin a New Era with a 2-1 Win Over Cremonese
Juventus kicked off a new era under Luciano Spalletti with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cremonese at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.
Goals from Filip Kostic and Andrea Cambiaso were enough for the Bianconeri to secure their second consecutive win, ending a frustrating five-match winless streak.
It took just two minutes for Kostic to pounce on a loose ball inside the box and slot past goalkeeper Emil Audero to give Juventus an early lead.
Audero, however, kept Cremonese in the game with key saves from Dusan Vlahovic and Manuel Locatelli before halftime.
Juventus extended their advantage midway through the second half when Cambiaso fired home after Francisco Conceição’s deflected cross fell kindly into his path.
Cremonese pulled one back seven minutes from time through Jamie Vardy, who took advantage of a gap in the defense to beat Michele Di Gregorio. But it proved too little, too late, as Juventus held firm to give Spalletti a winning start following his recent appointment in place of Igor Tudor.
Data Insights: Strong Start for the Bianconeri
-
Kostic’s opener after just 85 seconds was the second-fastest away goal scored by a Juventus player in Serie A since 2004–05, behind Nicola Legrottaglie’s goal against Atalanta in April 2008 (46 seconds).
-
Cambiaso, born in 2000, became the youngest defender to record at least five goals and five assists across the last three Serie A seasons (five goals, seven assists).
